Meralco Power Academy (MPA) proudly celebrates its 8th year of sharing knowledge and utility best practices among power and energy professionals, partners and key industry stakeholders.
Eight years ago, on July 23, MERALCO brought forth its main education foundation, envisioned to play a key role in building a globally competitive and sustainable Philippine power industry. Taking this mission to heart, this is exactly what MPA has accomplished throughout the years – trained, mentored and empowered thousands of students, engineers and electrical personnel.
Core Values
Building on the tenets of its mother company, MPA’s core values are derived from MERALCO. Customer Service, Performance, Accountability/Empowerment, Integrity/Transparency, Teamwork/Collegiality, Malasakit and Makabayan can be gleaned from MPA’s strategically designed training courses and advocacy programs.
Training Courses for Stakeholders
Power and energy professionals, technical trade workers (engineers, managers, linemen, etc), STEM students, MERALCO customers, government partners and the general public have all gained practical knowledge from many of MPA’s training courses. MPA’s subject matter expertise are on, but not limited to, Lineman & Skills Training, Engineering & Electric System Design, Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, and Electrical Safety & Health.
Advocacy Programs
Through MPA, MERALCO is able to advance its nationwide advocacies on:

- Technical Excellence & Sustainability – Practical power engineering, renewable energy and EEC programs
Through the years, MPA, through MERALCO’s industry leadership and network has partnered with numerous electrical cooperatives and distribution providers, training managers and linemen in the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Not just within the Philippines, MPA’s geographical footprint has expanded to the ASEAN region and even crossed continents to Africa. Foreign utilities companies such as Bhutan Power (2019) and K-Electric (2020) have taken MPA courses to learn about its established best practices on Operational Efficiency and Electrical Safety.
To keep up to speed with established international standards, MPA has conducted international study visits to learn from Ceylon Electricity Board, Bhutan Power Corporation, Papua New Guinea Power Ltd, Korea Electric Power Corp, Tanzania Electric Co, Zanzibar Electric Co, Pakistan Distribution Companies, Mongolia Ministry of Energy and Electricity Company of Ghana.
