2023 Training Calendar

Stepping up to the challenge of lessening the dropout rates for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the academy started the YESS initiative in 2016 as an avenue to provide students with experiences that can serve as powerful tools to motivate and inspire. Meralco Power Academy understands the importance of keeping students motivated and encouraged to ensure a sustainable future for the energy workforce.

YESS 2025 in Iligan: The first in Mindanao and the biggest yet

YESS 2025 Mindanao leg is not only the first in the region but its biggest ever YESS event to date, gathering close to 1000 senior high school STEM students from Abuno National High School, Acelo C. Badelles Sr. Memorial High School, Iligan City East National High School, Iligan City National High School, Integrated Developmental School, Philippine Science High School – Mindanao Central Campus, St. Michael's College of Iligan, Inc., and Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology. MPA partnered with the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology to implement the summit.

YESS 2025 in Iloilo:
Strengthening Access to Innovation

The Visayas leg gathered 90 students from Philippine Science High School, Angelicum School Iloilo, and Leganes National High School. It also served as an opportunity to unveil the Academy’s collaboration with Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGEN) to establish a Center for Innovation in the Visayas.

MGEN Center for Innovation (MCI) serves as a dedicated hub for learning and research. It is designed to empower communities, build local talents, and prepare future leaders in the power industry. This new facility enables MPA to extend the reach of One Meralco’s technical expertise, learning programs, and best practices in the region.

YESS 2025 in Manila: Connecting Over 300 Students to Industry Expert

The Manila leg gathered 336 students from 11 schools and universities across Metro Manila and Rizal. Participating institutions include La Salle Greenhills, South Mansfield College, National University – Nazareth Schools, Quezon City Science High School, Don Bosco School – Salesian Sisters, Inc., Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Technological University of the Philippines, Mapúa University, St. Scholastica’s Academy Marikina, World Citi Colleges Antipolo City, and Technological Institute of the Philippines.
