A New Generation Begins

Powercamp 2026 is officially underway, welcoming 28 top engineering students from 12 partner schools across the Philippines. The cohort kicked off with a full day of industry immersion that began with an introduction to the Philippine power industry, a deep dive into the One Meralco business, and a firsthand look at PowerTech.

As the widest university reach the premier internship program has seen, the 2026 cohort represents a growing pipeline of aspiring engineers ready to help shape the future of Philippine energy.

This year's Power Campers also had the opportunity to hear directly from Meralco President and Chief Operating Officer and Meralco Power Academy President Ronnie L. Aperocho, who shared the meaning behind POWERCAMP — Preparing Outstanding World-Class Energy Rising-Stars by Cultivating the seeds of Meralco into Aspiring Meralco Professionals.

Grounding the internship for engineering students in its deeper purpose of engineering career development and energy workforce development, the session was made even more meaningful by a former Power Camper who now serves as executive assistant to the COO, a living reminder that mentorship and continuity are at the heart of everything this program stands for.

28 students, 35-day immersion

Twenty-eight engineering students from 12 universities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao spent 35 days inside the One Meralco ecosystem — deployed across divisions like Meralco Networks, MGen, MTerra Solar, and more, getting a ground-level look at how one of the country's most significant energy institutions actually operates.

Power Camp connects aspiring engineers with the people and technologies shaping the country's energy future. Direct engagement with Meralco leaders and mentors gives participants the kind of industry perspective that's hard to get anywhere else and leaves them better prepared for what's ahead.
