2023 Training Calendar

Meralco Powercamp is a flagship program of Meralco Power Academy, designed to equip high-potential engineering students with the skills and industry exposure needed to thrive in the evolving energy sector.

Empowering the Next Generation of Engineering Leaders

Powercamp is a hands-on learning journey built around real industry experience. Students work alongside industry professionals and take on real-world business challenges. The academy's premier internship program immerses students across the One Meralco ecosystem, enabling them to gain valuable insights into how the energy industry drives innovation and supports the country's development.

Open to top students from partner universities across the Philippines, the program gives participants access to industry experts, structured learning sessions, and practical projects that strengthen both technical and leadership capabilities. Powercamp also supports the development of essential professional skills, helping students become more confident, adaptable, and ready for the demands of the workplace.

At its core, Meralco Powercamp is an internship for engineering students that connects academic learning with industry practice, nurturing the next generation of engineers who will help shape a more sustainable and inclusive energy future for the Philippines.

Growing With the Industry

Since its launch, Meralco Powercamp has provided engineering students with opportunities to bridge academic learning and industry practice through meaningful industry immersion experiences. Over the years, the program has evolved to include stronger university partnerships, broader industry exposure, and enhanced learning opportunities that reflect the changing needs of the energy sector.

A New Generation Begins

Powercamp 2026 is officially underway, welcoming 28 top engineering students from 12 partner schools across the Philippines. The cohort kicked off with a full day of industry immersion that began with an introduction to the Philippine power industry, a deep dive into the One Meralco business, and a firsthand look at PowerTech.

As the widest university reach the premier internship program has seen, the 2026 cohort represents a growing pipeline of aspiring engineers ready to help shape the future of Philippine energy.

This year's Power Campers also had the opportunity to hear directly from Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Meralco Power Academy President Ronnie L. Aperocho, who shared the meaning behind POWERCAMP — Preparing Outstanding World-Class Energy Rising-Stars by Cultivating the seeds of Meralco into Aspiring Meralco Professionals.

Grounding the internship for engineering students in its deeper purpose of engineering career development and energy workforce development, the session was made even more meaningful by a former Power Camper who now serves as executive assistant to the COO, a living reminder that mentorship and continuity are at the heart of everything this program stands for.

28 students, 35-day immersion

28 students, 35-day immersion

Twenty-eight engineering students from 12 universities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao spent 35 days inside the One Meralco ecosystem — deployed across divisions like Meralco Networks, MGen, MTerra Solar, and more, getting a ground-level look at how one of the country's most significant energy institutions actually operates.

A launchpad for future careers

A launchpad for future careers and future industry leaders

Power Camp connects aspiring engineers with the people and technologies shaping the country's energy future. Direct engagement with Meralco leaders and mentors gives participants the kind of industry perspective that's hard to get anywhere else and leaves them better prepared for what's ahead.

Human ingenuity at the forefront

Human ingenuity at the forefront of rapid technological shifts

Technology is reshaping the energy industry, but Power Camp keeps the focus on the people driving that change. As Meralco CHRO Hans Montenegro put it: "No matter how good the technology becomes, humans will run the tech, not the other way around." The program prepares participants to grow as leaders and step confidently into that role.
